Increasing demand in retail for packaging that preserves food freshness

The history of the mango

It is the peak season for mangoes: Brazil, thanks to its latitude, produces them all year round, while Peru sees them ripen between November and April, but Peruvian mangoes face low-priced competition from the Brazilian product.
Over the last ten years, the European mango market has continued to grow and with it the sales of preserving products. Many use 'hot water treatment' to kill pests and reduce the rate of rotting of mango fruits in order to meet the quarantine conditions of the destination country. After such treatment, the maturation of the mango accelerates.
The fruit's shipping time is already 20-45 days and many batches of fruit should be affected by shipping delays and port congestion, which will lengthen the time.

Currently, many premium mangoes are sold by the piece and in small packages, to add 'insurance' to storage and transportation. This is just one of the cases where the demand for high barrier, low weight films and packaging solutions become critical to the export of a product, and the relative economy of the country producing it.

Our shrink and non-shrink films cover any flexible packaging requirement. Consisting of polyolefin and barrier materials, they are also suited to meet specific requirements relating to particular production niches. Like that of mangoes!
